Biloxi is considered a hub of sports fishing all over the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Along the season of fishing, different kinds of fish are available such as snapper, king mackerel, red drum and many others. A minor hockey team is based in the city; its the Mississippi Surge, and they play their games at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
Biloxi has been scene to different cultural events. For instance, the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art was opened in 2010. Some parts of Private Benjamin film set in the city exactly in the Fort Biloxi. The famous singer and song writer Jesse Winchester once was inspired by the city and he wrote a song he called "Biloxi." In 1977, the legend singer Jimmy Buffett included a cover of the city on his album titled Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes.
The Loved Ones bands song Louisiana was about the devastated areas of Kathrin hurricane. In 2012, the rock band The Gaslight Anthem titled one of their songs 'Biloxi Parish which is included on their album Handwritten. One of the places you can go to while in the city is The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies where you can learn about what makes the Gulf Coast so exceptional and unique.
